1.Lock yourself up
Nobody puts you in. In Locktober the length is fixed — what is left of the month — so the only thing to decide is whether you are in.
2.Show it every single day
Post the proof, mark it as that day's cage check, and three other subs confirm it. You confirm theirs, they confirm yours.
3.Miss a day and the badge goes
The lock keeps running either way — that part is not a punishment. But the badge only goes to a clean run, every day verified.
4.31 October, 23:59 UTC — sealed
31 days, and then it is over. Longest sentence leads the board; a clean sweep mints the badge with the year stamped on it.

· You lock yourself. Nobody is put on this board by anyone else. Every man here asked for it, in public.
· One cage at a time. You run a single lock; it has to seal before you start another.
· The month is the length. You serve what is left of the month, the same as every other man on this board.
· The crowd only gets the first day. Outside a season you can let reposts and comments add days, for the first 24 hours and no longer. You can switch that off completely.
· Nothing costs money. The only thing anyone spends on this board is the month.
· Three verify a day. A check is a public post you mark yourself; three different people confirm it, once each, and that day counts. You can never confirm your own.
· Every day = the badge. Verify all 31 days and the “Locktober 2026” badge is minted on your profile, permanently. Miss one and the lock runs on — the badge waits for 2027.
· A day still counts if you took it off to wash. Cleaning, chafing, a night that went wrong — take it off, sort it out, put it back on. Nobody on this board loses a day for looking after himself.
